Gin,

One of the ideas I've returned to again and again in my work is this:

Responsibility has a physiology.

When you're the person others depend on, your body learns that.

You anticipate. You scan ahead. You solve the problem before it becomes a problem. You remember what everyone needs. You stay available. You keep going because there are consequences when you don't.

You might carry tension, reactivity, anxiety, shakiness, brain-fog, indigestion, headaches, or joint-pain, but you dismiss your body’s signals and keep going.

Eventually, "being responsible" isn't simply something you do.

It becomes a way your body moves through the world.

I've spent years working at the intersection of coaching and the body, and I've become increasingly interested in what sustainable responsibility and leadership requires from us physically - not simply intellectually.

Because sometimes what looks like a time-management problem is really a capacity problem.

And sometimes the answer isn't learning to carry more efficiently.

It's becoming more intentional about how we carry what is ours to carry - and distinguishing what isn't.

What does responsibility feel like in your body these days?

Around the Table

I've been reading the responses women have shared with me about what responsibility is costing them.

What I'm hearing isn't primarily about career advancement. Women are talking about energy. Health. Relationships. Being present with their families. Boundaries. Mental and emotional capacity.

That's changing what I'm paying attention to as I create this experience.

I'm less interested in asking, How can we help women accomplish more?

I'm much more interested in asking:

How do we become women capable of carrying significant responsibility without sacrificing ourselves or the people we love?

That question is becoming central to what I'm building, and if you have something to share, as always, I’m listening.

Until next time,

Gin
